JOINT PROGRAMMING INITIATIVE CLIMATE: “Connecting Climate Knowledge for Europe”
Invitation to join us at the official Launching Event, November 6th 2012, 5:30 p.m., Museum of Natural Sciences, Brussels
Climate Change is a complex reality, which affects European society at large. Understanding and responding to climate change requires coordinated and large-scale European efforts, in research, innovation and in governance. The Joint Programming Initiative “Connecting Climate Knowledge for Europe (JPI Climate)” is a strategic platform for aligning of national research priorities in the area of climate research and for launching joint activities.
Its aims are to contribute to a coordinated knowledge development by improving the scientific expertise on climate change and connecting that knowledge to decision-making and link it to eminent political and practical concerns, such as climate risks and adaptation options in climate-vulnerable sectors, mitigation policies or investment strategies and technological innovation.
We cordially invite you to participate in this first official presentation of JPI Climate. Please, join us to discuss with several renowned speakers - including Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action, - the question of how we can effectively tighten the link between science, practice and innovation in climate research. The presentations and discussions will be followed by a reception.
Wilfried Kraus, Chair of JPI Climate and a member of the European Commission (from the Directorate-General for Research & Innovation) will be present at the press conference.
We are very much looking forward to meeting you in Brussels on the evening of Nov. 6th.
