Invitation to the press: Manneken-Pis receives a new uniform from Customs
On the occasion of International Customs Day, Customs will present an official Belgian Customs officer’s uniform to Manneken-Pis.
This event will be attended by Johan Van Overtveldt, Minister of Finance, and Kunio Mikuriya, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization.
A Customs parade will take place on the Grand-Place with the following vehicles and participants:
scan-van, motorcycles and dog-handlers.
When? Friday 26 January 2018 at 10.00 a.m.
Where? The “Salle des Milices” in Brussels City Hall (Grand-Place).
Belgian Customs is made up of 3,400 officials and is responsible for protecting society, promoting international trade by managing external borders, ensuring supply chain security, and collecting Customs duties and VAT together with excise duties.
Established in 1952, the Brussels-based World Customs Organization is an independent intergovernmental organization with the mission of improving the efficiency of Customs administrations. The WCO now represents 182 Customs administrations across the globe which are responsible for processing 98% of world trade.
