Within the framework of its announced buy back program for bonds coming to maturity within 12 months, the Belgian Debt Agency has started quoting bid prices on a special window on the MTS AM electronic platform as of today March 30th, to buy back its OLO 59 (ISIN : BE0000319286) having a current outstanding of 9.594.000.000 EUR.
The bond has its final maturity on 28th  March  2016.

The Belgian Federal Government Debt amounted to EUR 393.18 billion as of 28 February 2015.
Debt issued or taken over by the federal government amounted to EUR 392.88 billion, and the institutions for which the federal government supports the debt service, registered a debt of EUR 0.30 billion.
In net terms (i.e. deducting financial deposits and investments, as well as securities owned by the Treasury), the Federal Government Debt amounted to EUR 376.52 billion.

On Thursday 12th March, the Kingdom of Belgium  issued within the framework of its EMTN-programme a new 3-year bond in GBP at a spread of + 26 bp over GILT.

This new GBP 500 million bond matures on 21st December 2018 and pays a coupon of  1.125%.

The issue has been swapped into euro in order to cancel any currency risk.

After swap the cost for the Kingdom represents a negative yield.

With this transaction, the Belgian Debt Agency has completed  more than 32% of its financing plan...
