Companies can now really get down to business

Belgium is the first European member state to fully implement the new NIS2 legislation. These rules significantly strengthen the level of cyber security. An estimated at least 2,500 Belgian organisations are required from today to register on the website atwork.safeonweb.be and take security measures.  They thus hold the key to taking their cyber security to the next level.

Brussels, 25 September 2024 - 80% of hackings could have been prevented thanks to two-step verification. To keep criminals out, the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) is launching a new campaign to promote two-step verification (2FA).

Last year, alert citizens sent us almost 10 million messages to suspicious@safeonweb.be. By 2022, that figure had already risen to 6 million. On average, we received 27,000 messages a day. February 2 2023, was a record day, with 65,645 messages!

Campaign provides internet users with new online safety tools

Today, the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) and the Cyber Security Coalition are launching the Stay safe online initiative, a series of simple and accessible online training courses on cyber security. In the first part, "Look where you're going!”, people will learn to identify fake messages that they receive in their inboxes and on their mobile phones. By involving the general public, as many as 14 million clicks to suspicious websites were avoided in 2022. This equates to about 25 alerts to internet users per minute. If you know that Belgium has a population of 12 million, you understand that these are huge numbers.  This is the result of the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium's Belgium Anti-Phishing Shield (BAPS), which alerts internet users to unsafe websites. This system is unique in Europe.
